Our Disneyland On a Budget vacation to have the perfect couple’s week and attend Mickey’s Halloween Party Oogie Boogie Bash.
Our Couples Road Trip to Disneyland, scheduled for October, is an eagerly awaited adventure where we will immerse ourselves in the enchanting world of Disney as a couple.
Disneyland On A Budget Vacation
On our 7-day trip to Anaheim, we will explore the captivating attractions and experiences offered at both Disneyland and California Adventures.
But wait, there’s more! We also have the exciting opportunity to attend Mickey’s Halloween Party Oogie Boogie Bash.
In this thrilling event, you can mingle and celebrate with beloved Disney characters in their spookiest costumes.
This is by far our favorite time to visit Disney. We get to see all of our favorite villains.
Disneyland On A Budget: Savings
We have been visiting Disneyland as a family since 2012, and with each trip we refine our budget based on our previous experiences.
Our planning typically begins six months to a year in advance. We believe in “Always Be Booked” – constantly looking forward to new adventures, experiences, and destinations.
While creating our budget, we account for unexpected expenses that may arise. If we spend less than planned, we save the extra money for our next adventure.
It’s important to remember that everyone’s budget is unique. By utilizing various savings apps for everyday purchases and prioritizing savings in our budget, we can afford these vacations without surprises.
Because we are going as a couple for the first time, we may most likely have over budgeted in categories to allow us some flexibility. I know it can be tempting to splurge when your in the shops buying Disney memorabilla.
Disneyland On A Budget: Planning
As for planning, it all starts the moment we book our trip. We decide on the dates and make our reservations with a deposit. Unlike some, we prefer not to use a travel agent, finding it simple enough to call Disney’s Travel Co. and make our arrangements.
Good Neighboring Hotel
We always request to stay at a neighboring hotel that fits our travel budget and fulfills our family’s needs. One hotel that has consistently provided an excellent experience for us is the Sonesta Es Suites, formerly known as Staybridge Suites Hotel. We will share our experiences with this hotel at a later time.
Based on a colleague’s recommendation for this particular trip, we booked a room at the Tropicana Inn and Suites. It conveniently sits within walking distance directly across the street from the park entrance. Stay tuned for our review of this hotel.
Disneyland On A Budget Breakdown
With just a $200 deposit, we booked our trip! Once the deposit is paid, we calculate the monthly budget required to cover our adventure’s expenses.
Here’s what is included in our trip budget:
– Total Vacation Package (includes park admission and hotel)
– Car Rental (for this trip)
– Food Budget (Disney gift cards or cash)
– Gas (if driving by car)
– Souvenirs and Gifts
– Oogie Boogie Bash (California Adventures x 2 nights)
– Parking – Hotel
– Mobility Scooter Rental
Let’s break down the budget for Disneyland:
The vacation package to Disneyland includes the hotel and park admission for a 2-day park hopper. We will be in Anaheim for 6 1/2 days.
Please note that this package does not include parking at the hotel, so it’s an additional expense for our trip budget.
However, since our hotel is conveniently located across the street from the park, we don’t have to pay for parking at the park and only need to cover parking at the hotel.
Total Vacation Package
The price for the total vacation package is $2,468. We had budgeted $162 per paycheck ($324 per month) and paid off the trip in August.
Additionally, hotel parking costs $145 and again, is not included in the hotel package price.
Rental Car
Instead of flying, we’ve opted for a couple’s road trip to Disneyland. This allows us to have more control over our transportation and explore places like our upcoming trip to San Diego.
The rental car price, including a $200 deposit (which is refundable upon return of the car), is $906.93. We’ve also budgeted $500 for gas.
Food and Souvenirs
Dining at the parks can be expensive, so we recommend purchasing Disney gift cards ahead of time to save money. This allows you to stay within your budget and only spend what you have on the gift cards.
If you have a Sam’s Club or Costco membership, you can get the gift cards cheaper. We’ve saved and purchased around $700 in gift cards for this trip.
Additionally, we’ve budgeted an extra $200 in cash for groceries and snacks for the road trip and bringing food items into the parks.
Disney gift cards can be used for food and souvenirs, which never expire so that any unused amount can be saved for a future trip. The total budget for food and souvenirs is $900.
Mickey’s Halloween Party -Oogie Boogie Bash
Mickey’s Halloween Party – Oogie Boogie Bash is a special event at Disney’s California Adventure Park during the Halloween season.
We’ve attended this event twice before, and will be our third time attending. The tickets for this event are not included in a park hopper purchase. We typically purchase tickets for two separate event nights.
The ticket price is $676 for two people attending two event nights.
Mobility Scooter
Since my husband is disabled and cannot walk through the parks, we always reserve a mobility scooter for him to use.
While Disneyland does have a scooter rental service on-site, we prefer using A Scooter 4 U as they offer reasonable prices and excellent customer service. They deliver the scooter directly to your hotel fully charged and pick it up hassle-free.
The price for the scooter rental is $175 for five days.
In total, the price for the trip, including all expenses, is $5,770.93 for seven days.
