If you’re planning a trip to Disneyland, you may have heard about Disney’s World of Color Dessert Party. This exclusive experience offers guests a front-row seat to the spectacular World of Color show and a delicious dessert buffet. This party always seems to be a big hit and sells out quickly.
What is Disney’s World of Color Dessert Party?
We’ve been to Disneyland many times and have seen the World of Color, but it was always standing within the crowd and never a good viewing spot. This past October, when we took our Couple’s Halloween Getaway to Disneyland, I wanted us to experience Disneyland and California Adventure Park in a new way. So, I booked the World Of Color Dessert Party.
But is it worth the extra cost? In this week’s post, we’ll dive into the details of Disney’s World of Color Dessert Party and help you decide if it’s a sweet treat you won’t want to miss.
The World of Color Dessert Party is a special event at Disney California Adventure Park in Disneyland. It takes place in the Paradise Gardens area. The viewing area is just down the steps from The Little Mermaid – Ariel’s Undersea Adventure ride in California Adventure. Guests can enjoy a variety of colorful desserts while watching the World of Color show.
The World of Color Show
The World of Color show is a nighttime spectacular that combines water, lights, music, and special effects to create a mesmerizing experience. The show features characters and scenes from beloved Disney and Pixar films projected onto a wall of water in the Paradise Bay lagoon. (Keep reading for a sneak preview of the show.)
The show is approximately 22 minutes long and must-see for any Disneyland visitor to experience at least once. It’s a popular attraction, so securing a good viewing spot can be challenging. But that’s where the World of Color Dessert Party comes in.
The World Of Color Dessert Buffet
The dessert buffet is the main attraction of the World of Color Dessert Party. It features a variety of colorful and delicious desserts, including cakes, cookies, tarts, and more. The menu changes seasonally, but you can expect a wide selection of sweet treats to satisfy your cravings.
In addition to the desserts, the buffet also includes non-alcoholic beverages, such as water, soda, and coffee. Alcoholic drinks are available. Two drink maximum.
Why is the World of Color Dessert Party Worth It?
Now that you know the World of Color Dessert Party, let’s explore why it’s worth the extra cost.
Guaranteed Seating for the World of Color Show
The main benefit of the World of Color Dessert Party is guaranteed seating for the World of Color show. This means you won’t have to worry about staking out a spot hours in advance or standing in a crowded area to watch the show.
The reserved seating area is located in the center of the viewing area, providing the best view of the show. This is especially beneficial for families with young children or those with mobility issues who may have difficulty standing for long periods.
Exclusive World Of Color Dessert Treats
The desserts at the World of Color Dessert Party is not available to the general public. This means you’ll have access to a variety of delicious desserts that you won’t find anywhere else in the park. There is so much on the plate that if you cannot eat it all, you can ask for a to-go box and eat your goodies later on.
This is an excellent option for those with a sweet tooth or seeking a unique dessert dining experience. And, the Disney crew provides excellent customer service.
Unique World Of Color Viewing Experience
Watching the World of Color show from the reserved seating area at the World of Color Dessert Party offers a unique viewing experience. You’ll have a front-row seat to the show, with unobstructed views of the water and projections.
The reserved seating area is also elevated, providing a better view than the general standing area. This allows you to fully immerse yourself in the show and enjoy all of its magical elements.

Alternatives to the World of Color Dessert Party

Grab a FastPas
Disneyland offers FastPasses for the World of Color show, which allows you to reserve a spot in the general standing area. These FastPasses are free and can be obtained at the Grizzly River Run FastPass distribution area.
However, these FastPasses are limited and run out quickly, so you must arrive early to secure one.
Stand in the General Viewing Area
If you cannot get a FastPass or don’t mind standing for the duration of the show, you can still watch the World of Color show from the general viewing area. This area is located in front of the reserved seating area and offers a decent view of the show.
However, you’ll need to arrive early to secure a good spot, and you may have to deal with crowds and obstructed views.
Watch from a Nearby Restaurant
Suppose you’re looking for a unique dining experience with a view of the World of Color show. In that case, you can make reservations at one of the nearby restaurants, such as Carthay Circle Restaurant or Wine Country Trattoria.
These restaurants offer a prix fixe menu, including reserved viewing for the World of Color show. However, this option can be more expensive than the World of Color Dessert Party and may not include as many dessert options.
