We are planning a first cruise adventure to visit breathtaking sights on our Norwegian Eastern Caribbean Cruise. We invite you to follow along for our planning and more!

Planning A First Cruise Adventure To The Eastern Caribbean

Our first cruise adventure will happen in July 2024!  When planning our first cruise, we decided to book a 9-day voyage on the Norwegian Sky to have a remarkable experience filled with anticipated unparalleled adventures and breathtaking sights.

As first-time cruisers, we plan every detail carefully to ensure we make the most of every moment on board and ashore.

Sneak Peak At Our 9-Day Eastern Caribbean Cruise Itinerary Outline

We are planning to arrive in Miami, Florida, the day before our sailaway day, as flights can be so unpredictable at times. Then we have an option to take a shuttle directly to the ship’s port.

How We Are Planning A First Cruise To The Eastern Caribbean

There is quite a lot of pre-planning to be done when planning a first cruise before you cruise. From securing passports to arranging travel insurance, we leave no stone unturned in our comprehensive pre-cruise preparations.

Eastern Caribbean Cruise With Norwegian Cruise Line

We are excited about planning our first cruise with Norwegian Cruise Line and can’t wait to embark on this 9-day voyage. Let the planning begin!

Embarking on our first Norwegian cruise to the Eastern Caribbean in July 2024 is a dream come true.

With a 9-day voyage on the Norwegian Sky, we’re eagerly anticipating unforgettable adventures and breathtaking sights.

As first-time cruisers, we’re meticulously planning every detail to make the most of our time onboard and ashore.

In upcoming posts leading up to our embarkation day, we will share more in-depth about our 9-day itinerary and the planning we did leading up to this remarkable journey.

Planning A First Cruise -Packing Tips

Because we are planning a first cruise, we will share what we have purchased in upcoming posts in preparation for our Eastern Caribbean Cruise.

This will be based on the research we have already done and tips from others.

The items we share are what we feel will suit our family’s needs. We will give our honest opinion on whether something worked or didn’t work.

Planning A First Cruise Itinerary -Eastern Caribbean Cruise Ports Of Call

Leave Port of Miami, Florida-At Sea

Get settled in our balcony staterooms, explore the ship and find activities, specialty dining (we have a package) and rest

Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic

Potential Excursion – Ocean World Day Pass and Dominican Adventure

St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands

Potential Excursion – Snorkeling (If we don’t here, then we will in St. John’s) Our plan is to bring our snorkel gear with us since it will fit easily into our suitcases.

St. John’s Antigua

Reviewing excursions and potential sites to see

Phillipsburg, St. Maarten

This is the Dutch side of St. Maarten. A day of shopping, live music, drinks and food. Maybe some time at the beach.

Not sure at this point due to time constraints if there will be enough time to travel over to the French side of St. Maarten. Or save visiting for another trip. Any suggestions would be welcome.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

We plan on more sightseeing, historical monuments, shopping, and grabbing a bite to eat.

I’m interested in trying a traditional Puerto Rico Mofongo meal at a little restaurant called Casa Luna. (Mofongo is a popular Puerto Rican side dish made with fried green plantains mashed by hand, chicharrones (crispy pork skin), and fresh garlic.) I found a video on YouTube from a fellow traveler recommending Casa Luna.
We shouldn’t be doing any excursions at this port. It might be fun to rent bicycles to get around. I hear there are lots of bicycle lanes.

At Sea

Check out shows, we have a specialty dining package but it’s too early to make reservations now. Maybe a casino night and drinks.

Great Stirrup Cay, Bahamas

This is Norwegian’s private little island. Relaxation, snorkeling, ziplining, miniature golf, drinks and food.

Miami, Florida

Arrive back at the port of Miami where we’ll fly home.
